Farmer Companies began as a family-owned & operated business. We have remained family-owned & forward-thinking nearly 80 years later

Farmer Companies started with a simple vision: to produce the best ready mix and asphalt available in central Missouri. Since our inception, our goal has been exceptionalism across the board, and we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do. This all started with Elliott Farmer, Sr., who opened his businesses, Farmer’s Concrete, Cole County Industries, and Jefferson Asphalt.

In the early 1970s, Elliott Farmer, Sr.’s sons Bud and Mike joined the family business. They continued their father’s legacy with a family-forward approach, a strong work ethic, and the belief that failure was never an option. These forward-thinking men understood the business could grow with the acquisition and development of vertically integrated businesses in the construction and material manufacturing industry. What started as a handful of companies became dozens, and now, Farmer Companies has grown to employ more than 2,000 employees in the Midwest. Farmer Companies has grown its portfolio of construction production and performance companies to include some of the best organizations in the construction, logistics, and real estate fields.

Today, Farmer Companies remains family owned and operated, and it is our dedication to excellence, family values, and safety that allows us to continue growing and acting as a leader in our industry. To learn more about how Farmer Companies continued growth, contact us today.

At Farmer Companies, safety is #1

Farmer Companies would not be the organization we are today without our commitment to the safety of our employees, contractors, and the public. Our goal, every day, is to send our team members home to their families, and we achieve this goal in a number of ways. Our safety director guides our best practices in the field and in the office, while team safety leaders monitor and rectify any job site safety concerns. We act quickly to make positive changes on job sites because swift responses prevent dangerous accidents.

Once a week, every team holds Tool Box Talks, a time to discuss safety, wellness, and best practices in the office or out in the field. These important conversations allow our teams to keep safety at the top of their minds. Annually, we host Safety Week, a special event for all Farmer Companies employees to celebrate our outstanding safety record and to educate themselves on new and emerging best practices.

In an industry where cutting corners to lower costs increases the chance of accidents, Farmer Companies remains committed to maintaining a safe work environment for every single team member.
